Debbie Mellor must resign

I quote the Department of Health's reponse to a question under the Freedom of Information act:

"Debbie Mellor is the Deputy Director of Workforce Capacity within the Department of Health. She is responsible for ensuring effective workforce planning systems across health and social care. Ms Mellor was responsible for developing the Medical Training Application Service electronic recruitment portal. Ms Mellor took up post in December 2001 and was reconfirmed in post following reorganisation in 2004. Her current roles were given to her in accordance with our normal practice to move staff to meet business needs. "

However the DoH has used its typically lame interpretation of the public interest to give the game away:

"You also requested documentation concerning discussions between Ms Mellor and her seniors, Ministers and advisors regarding MTAS and MMC.

The Department considers that this information is e exempt from disclosure under section 35 of the Freedom of Information Act. Section 35 covers the formulation and development of government policy. While the Department appreciates that there is a general public interest in the availability of information about public sector activity, this must be weighed against the public interest in officials being able to provide frank advice to Ministers in an environment that is as free as possible from public controversy on issues about which opinions may be strongly held. In this case, we have determined that the balance of public interest favours withholding the information."

Debbie Mellor was 'responsible' for developing the MTAS electronic recruitment portal. This has failed in quite dramatic fashion. She must be held to account for this mess, she must resign at once.

It's great to see useless penpushers get such security of tenure. She must resign but obviously she won't and if she does leave it will be with a great big golden handshake unlike the juniors consigned to the scrapheap.
